H F Prevost Battersby - Richard Corfield of Somaliland, Edward Arnold, 1914

Richard Corfield (Richard Conyngham Corfield, 1882–1913) was a British colonial police officer who was killed in action in Somaliland in 1913. Corfield commanded the Somaliland Camel Constabulary and died at the Battle of Dul Madoba while engaging Dervish forces led by Mohammed Abdullah Hassan (the "Mad Mullah"), a controversial action that went against his orders to avoid direct confrontation with the Sayyid's main force.  Battersby, a journalist and war correspondent who covered the Boer War and other conflicts, wrote Corfield's biography shortly after his death.
