C.D. Pamely - Tales of Mystery & Terror, Caliban 1998, Limited Edition, Signed by the Illustrator.
Published 1998 by Caliban
This limited edition (of 250) is a reprint of a very scarce privately printed volume of 1926 by C.D. Pamely (1891-1967) containing 10 weird tales. This edition is illustrated and signed by David Fletcher with a Foreword by Brian Stableford and an Afterword by Richard Dalby. Frontispiece plus three additional full-page macabre black & white plates by Fletcher.
First Edition Thus. Octavo, original pictorial white cloth stamped with a design of a winged skeleton in black, red, purple and gold, gold titles to spine and front cover, top edges stained purple, marbled endpapers. 97 pp. 250 numbered copies printed. A fine copy, without dust jacket, as issued. An excellent copy.
Collection of ten supernatural stories, "grotesque and gaudy, almost hallucinatory in their nightmarishness"; firmly placed in the English Decadent movement, comparable with the best works of Shiel, Machen and Gilchrist. A reprint of the rare self-published 1926 edition.
Note: for this special edition of tales of mystery and terror, the publishers have provided translations of passage in foreign language. There will be found at the end of the book.
