Inscribed To Richard Dalby and signed and dated by author on half title page.  Two letters of correspondence.  Richard wanted this copy autographed.  Signed letters.  Basil Dean served as ENSA's director throughout the war, with the organization providing entertainment to improve the morale of both service personnel and civilian war workers.  The book covers Dean's extensive travel, including visits to the Allied Armies in North Africa in 1943 and India and South East Asia in 1944-1945.  The Theatre at War was published in 1956 and is considered a primary source for understanding ENSA's contribution during the war.
