A lovely hardback book with nice full calf binding with full gilt spine.  Patterned edges.  Embossed to front in Latin - Beatus Qui Intellegit (Blessed who understands).  An account of his further adventures and discoveries in company with Sir Henry Curtis etc. He entrusts the printing of memoirs in the series to his son Harry, whose death he mourns in the opening of the novel Allan Quatermain. Harry Quatermain is a medical student who dies of smallpox while working in a hospital. 

Condition:  Very good.  Pen and pencil notations to endpapers.  A lovely, stylish book.
